Today we visited the library and took part in Ms Hill's "Speed Booking". We had to move around different tables and each time choose a book we liked then move to the next and change the book if we saw a better one. Eventually, we ended up with one book each that we hadn't seen before.

A great way to have a date with a book!

Descriptive Writing - The Silent Blue Book

We watched a video of a silent story about a little girl, a dog and a boat. We then wrote our own narratives for the story. The descriptive language, the similies and metaphors used were amazing! Have a read below. I am sure you will be impressed!

Ice cream sundae time

Thanks to the PTA for giving us $50.00 for a class party for raising money in the Spellathon. We decided to make ice cream sundae's and it was heaps of fun. Gummi bears, pebbles, chocolate sauce, cream, custard, caramel sauce, Claudia's brownie, marshmellows and chocolate! What a sugar hit! Lucky Mrs Ellis sent them all home at 3pm!

WOW!

Last week we had The Showcase at school. Many students were part of performing in the Kapa Haka, Choir, Marimba, Band, violin and the Wearable Arts. The fabulous Miss Mane worked with 10 students from Year 5 and 6 to create their own outfits. Fesny and Ben from our room worked on their creations for weeks and look what they presented on the night! Absolutely fantastic!

Ronan at the Canterbury Cross Country

I got to school all pumped up ready to go to the Canterbury Cross Country Competition. When I got to class, I told everyone I was going. Mrs Ellis gave me good luck and I needed it. When I got there we lined up in our Zones (West, East, South etc). And then BANG! The battle had started. I was trying to catch up with people especially Taylor. We had to run 2km's non stop. There were hills and creeks to run around. When I finished, I came 42nd out of 119 people. I was very proud of myself!

Student Council Report 19 November

It’s been a great couple of weeks at the student council. We’ve put together some events and there has been some improvements to our wonderful school.

The zones athletics have just been and we have so many people through to the Canterbury’s. Well done to Izzy, Ruby and Cody who made it through from our class. Good luck!

The end of year disco is coming up on the 30th of November. We hope to see you all there!

The scooter race is on Friday of week seven for anyone who wants to participate.Wear a helmet and bring a lock for during the day. This event is held on the tennis courts with Mr Mabin. Hope to see you all out there having fun and stepping up!

The lock on the girls Rm 24-23 toilet is getting fixed by Chris. The wheelie bin for the field isn’t being put out anymore.

We would like to make a huge acknowledgement to Lisa Francis for teaching New Zealand sign language to some students. Well done to those people who participated and were committed-a great way to see students stepping up and reaching out!

We are having another mufti day but are still deciding whether to have it themed or not.
