Our last day in Room 24!

Last Friday was our last day together in Room 24.  It was sad to say goodbye to my amazing class of incredible students.  I have been fortunate to teach you all and have the fun together that we have had.  You have achieved great things this year and I know you will continue to do so.  Have a wonderful Christmas with your families and be safe over the holidays.  Much aroha, Mrs E :)

Christmas Craft - Sewing

Today we did some sewing and made a Christmas treat for someone in our family.  For many of us it was the first time we had done any hand sewing and we all managed to complete it.  Have a look at the pictures below.

Izzy's singing exam

Izzy took part in the Royal Society for music singing exam and she received Merit.  Fabulous effort Izzy.  Great to see you Stepping Up and challenging yourself.  We are proud of you.

Speed Booking with Ms Hill

Today we visited the library and took part in Ms Hill's "Speed Booking".  We had to move around different tables and each time choose a book we liked then move to the next and change the book if we saw a better one.  Eventually, we ended up with one book each that we hadn't seen before.  

A great way to have a date with a book!

                            

Descriptive Writing - The Silent Blue Book

We watched a video of a silent story about a little girl, a dog and a boat.  We then wrote our own narratives for the story.  The descriptive language, the similies and metaphors used were amazing!  Have a read below.  I am sure you will be impressed!

Gold Medal Winners

Check out our group of Gold Medal Winners from the Olympic Literacy work.  Well done to you all for achieving gold from the rubric expectations.  All of Room 24 presented awesome Olympic Literacy projects and I am very proud of you all!

Tennis Skills

Today we had tennis skills at school with the New Brighton Tennis Club.  It was fun and for some of us it was the first time we had played tennis.

Ice cream sundae time

Thanks to the PTA for giving us $50.00 for a class party for raising money in the Spellathon.  We decided to make ice cream sundae's and it was heaps of fun.  Gummi bears, pebbles, chocolate sauce, cream, custard, caramel sauce, Claudia's brownie, marshmellows and chocolate!  What a sugar hit!  Lucky Mrs Ellis sent them all home at 3pm!

Last week we had The Showcase at school.  Many students were part of performing in the Kapa Haka, Choir, Marimba, Band, violin and the Wearable Arts.  The fabulous Miss Mane worked with 10 students from Year 5 and 6 to create their own outfits.  Fesny and Ben from our room worked on their creations for weeks and look what they presented on the night!  Absolutely fantastic!

Decathlon Term 3

Great work this term with your Decathlon Room 24.  I am impressed to see so many of you improving on your scores throughout the year.  Ka mau te wehi!

Pyjama Day

We get up to some crazy things at our cool school.  Last Friday we had Pyjama Day and we all wore our PJ's.  The Year 5 student councillors helped organise the day and it was lots of fun.  Even Mrs Ellis and Mrs Willis had their PJ's on!
